Authorities, Boards & Commissions

Authorities, boards, committees, councils, and commissions (ABC's) are an established feature of municipal government which offers citizens an extraordinary opportunity to participate in a county's government affairs. Their activities have helped to shape or influence public policy in many areas.


There are currently two open positions on the Authorities, Boards & Commissions.

1. Human Relations Commission (new position) 
The Regional Human Relations Commission was created in 2023 and serves the municipalities of State College Borough, Ferguson Township and Patton Township. The Commission consists of seven members and is charged with hearing complaints made under the regional anti-discrimination ordinance. Patton Township appoints one member to the Commission, who serves a three year term.

2. C-Net Appointment 
C-NET Board of Directors: The C-NET Board oversees the operation of the local TV Government and Education Access Channels and, the community's common website. C-NET programming includes a community bulletin board, coverage of local meetings and activities, and other programs produced locally or of interest to area residents. The Patton Township Board of Supervisors appoints one citizen to serve on the Board. Other appointments to the 12-member Board are made by municipalities, school boards, library boards and the Centre County Commissioners.
