Overview

The Planning Commission consists of seven township residents appointed by the Board of Supervisors. The Commission reviews and makes recommendations to the Board for all proposed development, changes in zoning districts and regulations, and extensions of water and sewer service areas. The Commission also studies and makes recommendations on the road network, stormwater management, sign and lighting regulations, and other issues relating to land use.

The basis for the Planning Commission's study and recommendations is the Pennsylvania Municipalities Planning Code and the Centre Region Comprehensive Plan, a plan recommended by the Planning Commissions in College, Harris, Halfmoon, Ferguson and Patton Townships and State College Borough, and adopted by the elected Board (or Council) in those municipalities.
