Overview
The Open Space Stewardship Committee (OSSC) was first formed in 2006 when the Township purchased the Haugh tract, now known as the Haugh Family Preserve. The OSSC consists of seven (7) residents, volunteering service to provide community input and oversight towards land management programs. Various consultants also assist the Township and OSSC regarding forestry, wetlands, and third-partying monitoring activities. Both the Haugh Family Preserve and Gray’s Woods Preserve have Conservation Easements in perpetuity.
The Haugh Family Preserve consists of 465 acres that is located along Circleville Road. In 2011, to give back to the community, the Patton Township Community Gardens were established. Originally consisting of 49 plots, the gardens now consist of 137 plots that are available for individuals to rent.
In 2017, Patton Township acquired the Gray’s Woods Preserve, consisting of 149.75 acres, that adjoins the Gray’s Woods Park and Pennsylvania State Game Lanes No. 176.
