In late May 2023, Patton Township will be spraying 1285 acres of wooded neighborhoods to control spongy moth caterpillar activity. (Spongy moths were formerly known as Gypsy moths).
A licensed aerial applicator will be spraying a biological insecticide, Foray 48B, or Bacillus thuringiensis subspecies kurstaki Berliner (Btk) at a rate of 3⁄4 of a gallon per acre.
